The good thing about this recipe is that you make two things at the same time. After poaching the pears, do you know what happens to the poaching liquid after? It becomes your chai tea! You can steep some more tea leaves if desired and just add a little water if it's too sweet. The tea would just be so good!

Ingredients
- 4 pears
- 1 ½ cup sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ½-inch cube ginger, sliced
- 1 tsp allspice
- 4 pcs star anise
- 5 cups water
Instructions
- Boil water with sugar, cinnamon stick, ginger, allspice, and star anise in a pot.
- Once the water starts boiling, reduce heat to low. Add in pears then use aluminum foil or parchment paper to push the pears down the pot.
- Let simmer for 30 to 40 minutes until tender.
- Serve hot or cold.
